parish council Deerhurst Parish Council meets on Monday 19th September at 7.15pm in Apperley
Village Hall annexe. Residents are
welcome to attend and there is a public question time. Chairman's Report: We continue to have pressure on our budget spending but I am pleased to say that we have managed to keep our precept charge on the Council Tax the same as last year. The grass cutting cost continues to rise each year and the promised £5,000 grant for the village hall annexe has now been taken. On our parish plan front I confess I am disappointed with the progress made in finding sites for more affordable housing and a village shop but we are researching a number of possibilities and we hope to have some good news soon. The flood defence gates at Deerhurst are now completed and we all look forward to seeing if they work! The Parish map is making progress and more trees have been planted in the Parish. A new village bench seat, in memory of Councillor Viva Ann Elder, will soon be installed in the middle of Apperley and our thanks to Abbey National and other for their generous donation towards the cost of this. We continue to press Tewkesbury Borourgh Council to resolve the outstanding repair work to the fire damaged Oak House. The speed restrictions installed in Apperley have helped to slow down traffic and further measures, particularly in the school area, are proposed in a village makeover planned by the county highways which will take place in the school holidays. Finally, I would like to thank our County Councillor bob Vines, Borough Councillors Bruce Stephens and Mark Williams for their support , our Parish councillors for their free time spent on your behalf and a big thank you to Janet Dance who has continued to carry out all her duties very efficiently. G William Morris (Chairman)
