Syb's bit: A summary of da village (move over the Archers!) DATES
FOR NOVEMBER 6th 6.00pm
All Souls Service – Tredington DECEMBER 4th 6.00pm
Advent Songs of Praise – Forthampton CONGRATULATIONS TO: At
the October meeting of Apperley & Deerhurst WI the speaker was Sarah
Sharpley who told the members all about
Fair Trade and Tradecraft.
Tradecraft
was established in1979 to help poor people, usually in Third world countries,
to win their fair share of world trade. The aim is to support craftworkers and
farmers across Africa, Asia and Latin America, by selling their products and
providing support for them and also their families and communities. Many
of the crafts are hand made using natural dyes and local materials, and the
supplier is identified by name. It
was good to see that a company can be run without exploiting people. Sarah and
her colleague had brought along a wide range of Traidcraft goods for WI
members to look at and buy, including coffee, tea, biscuits, marmalade,
chocolate, cards, jewellery and other gifts. There
is a spare allotment at Apperley, ready for immediate cultivation.
If you are interested, or if you know of anyone who might like to take
on the allotment, please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council Mrs Janet
Dance on 01452 780332. POSITIVE PILATES Anyone for tennis?
