Photos coming: Game vs: Ross match reporter (Ed Burrows)

Monday the 6th June saw the undefeatable under 15-squad travel to Ross-on-Wye for their fifth game of the season. Having only lost one game at the beginning of the season-against Cannon Frome- expectations were high.

The under 15’s arrived, surveying the ground, a somewhat interesting affair, and on the inspection of the wicket, that inevitably ensued, it was aptly described by one member of the team as “chocolate pudding.”

After losing the toss the team were placed into bat, not as desired. After losing an early wicket it was the two senior members of the team at the stumps (oh dear). After the inevitably slow scoring and several tones of saw dust being placed on the wicket, Ed managed to crawl to twenty- and retire- and score one of the only fours of the match. A matter of balls later Jade joined the team in the pavilion after a catching session with Square Leg.

Finally the twenty overs of batting were over, and it was the turn of the undefeatables to defend their score of 98.

After clinching early wickets of Ross’s county players and bowling of 95 miles an hour (yeah right) victory was clinched. The opposition had once again bowed to the ferocious bowling attack of Apperley, and barely crawled to 68.

Next Match Same Reporter!!!

The second match of the week for Apperley under 15’s was Goodrich, away for a place in the County Cub Semi Final. After a interesting car journey all the team arrived in one piece, well…mostly, to be welcomed by a unique- I use the term loosely- ground and pavilion.

The opposition were inserted to bat, and they were subject to the “special” bowling of the openers. After the early wicket of a Herefordshire County off Ed’s bowling, the wicket was proved to be somewhat lively. Once again the opposition were subject to the ferocious bowling of the young squad, and bowed to the pressure-well almost- and were 137 for 6.

With the total fixed in their sights, the openers went into bat… and stayed there for nearly 12 overs, only scoring 30 odd. It was now the turn of the reliant number 3, Ed. After some orthodox shots (really) he was soon joining the rest of the team in the pavilion. Number 4 went in… and was soon back out. The team were experiencing a dramatic collapse. Several overs later, they were all out for 64, with one injured batsman whom was unable to bat- and would have won us the game.

A good evening was had by all, with rather comical moments in the “pavilion”. The undefeatables have finally been defeated. Well it doesn’t really count….
